Dr Antonio Carmelo Ceravolo is the Medical Director of the MediSport Center polyclinic and the physician in charge of the Sport Science, Longevity and Sports Medicine department at the Perugia (San Sisto) and Città della Pieve (Po’ Bandino) locations. As Medical Director he oversees the hygiene and health compliance of procedures, the appropriateness of the care provided and the ethical conduct of the centre’s multidisciplinary team.
A specialist in Sports Medicine with over twenty years of clinical experience in Umbria, he is accredited as an official FMSI Anti-Doping Inspector. He applies the national scientific protocols for issuing competitive and non-competitive sports fitness certificates, preventing overload injuries and promoting physical exercise as a tool for health and active ageing.
He is the centre’s reference physician for functional athlete assessments, sports fitness certification and preventive cardiovascular screening, addressed to professional athletes, amateurs and clinical patients.

- Sports cardiology and preventive screening
Integrated cardiac assessment related to physical activity, for the early identification of rhythm abnormalities or structural alterations incompatible with intensive exercise; particularly addressed to Master athletes (over 35/40) and people with risk factors (hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia).
- Competitive sports fitness certificate
Application of the Italian ministerial protocols (Ministerial Decree 18/02/1982): in-depth history, physical examination, chemical-physical urine test, spirometry and maximal exercise test on a cycle ergometer with continuous ECG and blood pressure monitoring.
- Non-competitive sports certificates
Preventive cardiovascular screening for enrolment and practice in gyms, swimming pools, recreational and school sports activities, with a targeted history and resting ECG.
- Physiatric and rehabilitation assessment
Physiatric examinations for the diagnosis, planning and prescription of motor recovery and physiotherapy (FKT) programmes, coordinated with the orthopaedic area, the physical therapists and the centre’s therapeutic gym, for musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries and post-surgical orthopaedic recovery.
- Anti-doping supervision and health protection (FMSI)
Institutional control activity as an FMSI Anti-Doping Inspector and health education addressed to sports clubs, to counter the use of illicit substances and the misuse of uncertified supplements.
